Join us for a relaxed toddler-paced hike along the paved loop trail at Boys and Girls Harbor Park. Enjoy the sunshine, get some morning energy out, and engage in nature play in an informal exploratory group setting. Bring snacks, water, strollers, sun and tick protection. Join us for a tick-free beach hike on Napeague Harbor and Napeague Bay with views of Gardiner's Island, the Walking Dunes and marshland. You'll see remnants of what was once an old fish factory. The sand surfaces vary from firm to rocky to soft. Note that due to the tides, this hike will be starting at 9 am, duration app 2 hours.

Landscape designer and Perfect Earth founder Edwina Von Gal will give us a private tour of Marshouse, her extraordinary personal gardens. Edwina will tell us about the Perfect Earth mission, and why natural, sustainable gardens have been the focus of her career. We will walk the boardwalk of her 11-acre property into Accabonac Harbor, an indescribable experience. Duration app. 2 hours.

Northwest Woods/Grace Estate Preserve Loop, East Hampton

Distance: 3+ miles

Hike old woodlands cart paths dating back several hundred years to when Northwest Harbor was main port for the town. We'll hike Whalebone Landing to the beach to enjoy scenic views of Barcelona Point, Mashomack Point, and Cedar Point. Then, walk along beach to the remains of the 1860s Kirk's Place homestead. We'll return through birch and oak trees on a section of the regional Paumanok Path route.

Meet at the metal gate entrance D to the Grace Estate Preserve, on the west side of Northwest Road, near Scoy Lane, and approximately 1/2 mile north of the Old Northwest Road/Northwest Road intersection. Bring liquids and tick protection. Duration: 90 minutes to 2 hours.

Explore the Miller’s Ground woods, including Toyland, on this rambling hike through the high forested hills at Miller’s Ground, west of Route 114 and north of East Hampton Airport.  Hopefully we will catch the mountain laurel in bloom.  Along the way, see if you can identify the Sleeping Lion.

Blue Moon Nocturne, Montauk

Beginning as twilight wanes, we will follow the magnificent bluff overlooking the ocean to take in the nocturnal sights and sounds of this special stretch of Atlantic coastline. The rare "blue" moon will be the second full moon of May, betwixt Flower Moon (May 1) and Strawberry Moon (June 29). Our hike will culminate at a 360-degree viewpoint showcasing the sparkling sea and historic lighthouse and then return to the starting point. All are welcome to relish the riches of nature at night. Bring a flashlight or lamp if you like. Subject to cancellation if weather is inclement. Duration: App 1.5 hours, muddy patches possible.

An EHTPS Members Only Experience.

The Devon Colony is a historic enclave founded in 1908 by Cincinnati’s William Cooper Procter (Procter & Gamble), Richmond Levering (Lever Brothers), Joseph Rawson Jr., and William Stanhope Rowe after they discovered the area on a hunting trip. The men purchased 1,000 acres of land, 90 feet above sea level, with Gardiners Bay to the north and the ocean to the south and built grand stucco houses and smaller residences as their summer homes. The colony also includes what is now the Devon Yacht Club, which was originally established as the Gardiners Bay Boat Club in 1908. We’ll tour this area and get a private tour of the Devon Yacht Club with Lucy Sachs, a descendant and former resident of the Highlands.

Meet at 10 AM at Fresh Pond Park (corner of Fresh Pond Road and Cross Highway), Amagansett. EH Town parking permit required. Duration: 2 hours. Pre-registration is limited to 30 EHTPS Members only.

On Memorial Day 2026 join us for a hike and stroll through the former Camp Hero, which was from 1942 to 1981 the largest military base ever operational in East Hampton Town, and the beautiful Point Woods. This isn’t only military history. The State Parks trails in Camp Hero feature more than a half dozen bridges over the area’s numerous running brooks.

Florida in the Hamptons, aka Sammy's Beach, East Hampton

Our second annual Florida in the Hamptons hike, taking advantage of the fact that from the air, Sammy's Beach looks like a map of Florida. We will start at the western end of Sammy's Beach (Pensacola), walk east on the beach to the jetty (Jacksonville), walk south along the inlet to Three Mile Harbor (Miami), then follow the harbor shoreline (past Sarasota and St. Petersburg) before following Sammy's Beach Road back to the parking area. Spray yourself against ticks. Bring water. And come wearing something Floridian!

Meet at 10 AM in the parking area at the north end of Old House Landing Road, East Hampton. Duration: App. 2 hours.

Join us for a relaxed-pace, tick-free bay beach walk along Block Island Sound. It is a lovely but challenging beach with gravel rocks, soft sand, and typically an uneven surface. On a clear day you can see Fisher's Island, the Rhode Island mainland and Block Island.

Meet at Gin Beach, at the end of East Lake Drive off of Rt. 27, several miles east of Montauk Village. (It's the next left turn east of South Lake Drive.) Note: you must have a valid Town of East Hampton beach parking permit. Duration: app. 2 hours.

We will explore the highlights and hidden gems of the northern end of Central Park. Starting from Central Park West at 103rd Street, we will visit The Pool, follow the Loch through the Glen Span Arch, visit the marvelous Huddlestone Arch, and then walk north through the thickly forested Ravine, stopping by the Blockhouse, the oldest structure in the park. From there we will walk around the recently restored Harlem Meer, then south to the Conservatory Garden on Fifth Avenue, before returning to our starting point. Magnolias, tulips, daffodils and azaleas should be in bloom.

Meet at 10 AM at the corner of Central Park West and 103rd Street, park side. Duration: App. 2.5 hours, moderate pace. Bring snacks & liquids.

You will see Fort Pond Bay, and hike Riah's Ridge and the Lost Boulder Trail. Join us for an out & back hike on the North Neck Trail, one of Montauk’s newest trails.  We’ll go past Tupelo Stone and the enormous North Neck Oak on this lovely route.  Meet at the Culloden Point historic marker, west side of Flamingo Avenue, Montauk, about 400 feet north of Wills Point Road.  (Look for a red fire hydrant.)  For those who are up for it, at the end of the main hike we may continue into the Culloden Point Preserve on the west side of Flamingo Avenue for an additional (and optional) 2-1/2 miles or so leading to the bay.  Bring snacks, liquids, & tick protection.  Duration: App. 90 minutes.

Distance: 5.5 miles
Level: Moderate pace

Starting on Amagansett's historic Main Street, our hike will leave charming Amagansett village and traverse upcountry woodlands and farm fields in the early springtime. This route follows local roads to the access point for Stony Hill’s Forest, then tracks parts of the Paumanok Path, Archery Trail and Springs to Amagansett Trail. Skirting the impressive Baker Kettlehole, we will pass through Amagansett's farmlands before returning to the starting point. All are welcome to relish Amagansett's beautiful beechwood forest and broad fields and appreciate a variety of avian and terrestrial fauna.  Duration: App. 2.5 hours.  Meet 10 AM in the parking lot behind the Amagansett Free Library.

Montauk Mountain Preserve Hike with the Montauk Library

Distance: 1 mile
Level: slow pace

Join us for a short hike through Montauk Mountain Preserve, one of the few remaining maritime grasslands in New York and a site of significance for the East End during the American Revolutionary War. During the American Revolutionary War, British ships moored off Fort Pond Bay threatened raids on colonists’ cattle grazing Montauk’s grasslands. Hear the story of how Captain John Dayton prevented the raid, take in the first signs of spring, listen to bird song, and learn about the rare plants in this unique maritime grassland.

This will be a slow-paced .5-mile loop hike with the option to turn coats inside out and hike a second time in the style of Dayton’s Ruse for a total of 1 mile, duration of one hour.

Meet at 10:45 AM at the Montauk Library, 871 Montauk Highway, for a carpool to the trailhead.

East Hampton’s iconic Maidstone Club is one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. Timeless vistas along the Gardiner’s Peninsula over Hook Pond, the Atlantic Ocean and beyond. Maidstone Club GM Ken Koch leads the hike, including seeing the gardens, apiary and chickens. Maidstone Club members will join us and share stories and provide historical content. Duration 2.5 hours.
