Distance: 2.5+ miles
Level: Moderate pace
Join us for a relaxed-pace hike at Napeague State Park that features a pitch pine forest, oak and holly trees, a meadow, and dunes, as well as a walk along Gardiners Bay, where you have wonderful views of Gardiner's Island and other coastline. You'll see the remains of portions of the old Menhaden Fish Factory and more.
Meet at the State parking lot on Cranberry Hole Road across from Napeague Meadow Road off Rt. 27, just west of The Lobster Roll (a.k.a. LUNCH). Despite this being a relatively short and totally flat hike, it does include soft sand on portions of the trail and a sandy and rocky bay beach that we'll be walking on as well.
