Join us for a collaborative and scenic hike with the Montauk Library and learn about the history of Fort Pond BayThe moderate-paced hike will start at Rod’s Valley overlooking the bay and continue along the Hither Woods Coastal Trail. We’ll get various vantage points of the bay and shoreline and learn about early Indigenous sites, where the Amistad landed, Montauk’s first fishing village and deepwater port, the Long Island Rail Road’s development of the area, and the military occupation during WWI and WWII. We’ll continue through Hither Woods Preserve and loop back on Old North Road.  

Meet at 10am at the Edward Vincent Ecker Sr. County Park parking lot at the end of Navy Road.
