Let's Get Down to Business! A Walking History of East Hampton Village's Commercial District. Presented by the Anchor Society
What kinds of colorful, quirky, practical, and whimsical shops could be found "upstreet" in the decades before Prada, Vuitton, and Valentino arrived? What was the business district's retail culture like for shoppers 50 or 100 years ago? Travel back in time for a fun and informative walking tour that will highlight a variety of storefronts and business buildings, providing not just a hint of nostalgia, but a peek into the creative ways nonprofits in our community are brainstorming to return heart and soul to Main Street.
This event will coincide with a pop-up exhibit at the Long Island Collection at East Hampton Library in the shops of yore (as well as an evening talk on July 18th featuring members of the Anchor Society and Hugh King, village historian).
Meet 10 AM in Lumber Lane Parking Lot 2, East Hampton.
