Let’s celebrate Memorial Day weekend by exploring what was, from 1942 to 1981, the largest military base ever operational in the Town of East Hampton, Montauk’s Camp Hero. And to add to the interest, we will hike the newly completed Wikoff Way, a mile-plus trail in Camp Hero recently completed by New York State Parks. We might even sneak a peak at the recently finished Montauk Point erosion control revetment. Meet 10:00 a.m. at Point Woods trailhead, roadside parking on Camp Hero Road, Montauk. Bring snacks & liquids.
